This statement of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, a document commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, was published on 8th April 2024.
FAMILIARIS CONSORTIO
FAMILIARIS CONSORTIO means “On the Role of the Christian Family in the Modern World”. It is an Apostolic Exhortation given by Pope John-Paul II on the 22nd of November, 1981 and is mainly about the family, married couples, children and parenting.
HUMANAE VITAE
Humanae vitae is an encyclical written by Pope Paul VI , 25 July 1968. The text re-affirmed the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding married love, responsible parenthood, and the rejection of artificial contraception.
Amoris Laetitia
AMORIS LAETITIA means “the joy of love”. It is an Apostolic Exhortation given by Pope Francis on 19th March 2016 and calls us to “love and cherish family life” in whatever condition they may be in, of difficulty or crisis.
Catechumenal Pathways for Married Life
Five years after its publication, the “Amoris Laetitia Family” Year sought to return the focus to the family, to invite us to reflect on the themes of the Apostolic Exhortation, and to enliven the entire Church in her joyful commitment to evangelise families, alongside families. This document was released in 2022 by the Dicastery of Laity, Family and Life.
